Career and technical faculty in the North Carolina Community College System are expected to bring content area mastery and up-to-date teaching strategies to their classrooms. At the same time, their fields of expertise continue changing, as do the technology used to address them, the student population, and the learning environment. Recognizing the ongoing need for faculty support, the North Carolina Community College System Office funded the North Carolina Network for Excellence in Teaching (NC-NET), a professional development resource providing online courses, workshops, tutorials, and instructional materials. Funded through the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, NC-NET’s activities are coordinated by the nonprofit education organization CORD and guided by a steering committee comprised of North Carolina community college instructional leaders.
