NC-NET Academy Practicum

Collaborative Curriculum Development for Creating Integrated Instruction

March 9–April 30, 2018; final projects due May 1

An intensive facilitated online practicum on integrated curriculum development

This is a unique NC-NET Academy course offering a rich faculty development experience in curriculum design. Instructors from math, science, or communications are paired with instructors from career-technical disciplines for collaborative work on integrated projects.

Interdisciplinary teams will create classroom-ready projects that:

  • Integrate career and technical content and academic concepts—reinforcing both
  • Use real-world scenarios to engage students and make content relevant
  • Foster critical thinking, collaboration, and other skills valued by employers
  • Encourage instructors to use active, authentic assessment techniques

Nomination Criteria and Selection Process:
Faculty teams from math, science, or communications and career-technical disciplines will be selected for participation based on nominations received from chief academic officers. Faculty members and their nominators will be notified via email if they are selected to participate. As with other Academy courses, tuition is free. Completers of the Practicum will receive a $150 stipend.
