U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Provides resources addressing energy and climate change, clean and renewable energy, energy efficiency, fossil fuels, and transportation's energy impacts.

North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association
NCSEA is a non-profit membership organization of individuals and businesses interested in sustainable energy.  Located in Raleigh but active throughout the state, NCSEA works to ensure a sustainable future by promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency in North Carolina through education, public policy and economic development.

NC GreenPower
NC GreenPower is nonprofit organization established to improve North Carolina’s environment through voluntary contributions toward renewable energy. NC GreenPower is the first statewide green energy program in the nation supported by all the state’s utilities. The goal of NC GreenPower is to supplement the state’s existing power supply with more green energy – electricity generated from renewable resources like the sun, wind and organic matter. Their website provides a variety of resources including environmental benefits and carbon offset calculators

Electric Vehicle Competition
The Students Making Advancements in Renewable Transportation Technology (SMARTT) Challenge provides a year-long comprehensive curriculum encompassing nearly all academic disciplines. The highlight of the program is the design and construction of street-legal electric vehicles that high school students enter into a national contest called the Final Event held annually in Wake County in the spring.

Southern Energy Management
Southern Energy Management provides energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to a wide variety of residential, commercial and industrial clients.

Advanced Energy
A non-profit organization with a board appointed by the governor of North Carolina and the member utilities, Advanced Energy focuses on energy-efficient industrial process technologies, motors and drives testing, and applied building science.

Progress Energy
A North Carolina power company whose installed generation capacity includes 38 percent combined cycle, combustion turbine, 35 percent coal, 19 percent nuclear, 7 percent oil and 1 percent hydroelectric. View descriptions of their use of renewable and alternative energy technologies here.

Provides technical reports and consumer guides on energy-related topics promoting energy efficiency.
